Wayuu Bible Alpharetta, GA

The Colombian Bible Society has recently published the first complete translation of the Bible into Wayuunaiki, the language spoken by the Indigenous Wayuu people. With a population of around 500,000, the Wayuu make up 20% of the Indigenous population in Colombia and represent the largest Indigenous group in Venezuela and Colombia. This is a significant achievement as it marks the first time a complete Bible translation has been accomplished in a native language in Colombia. The project required the expertise of biblical scholars, native translators, and language specialists to ensure the accurate meaning and interpretation of the sacred text.

Among the group of seven native interpreters is our dear friend, Pastor Bautista Fince, who said, “This project will help my people see and understand God’s Word and will bring unity among our churches and communities.” The translation, which took about 13 years to complete, is being celebrated, as it will aid thousands of Wayuu people who struggle to read the Spanish language and bring clarity and understanding of God’s message of love and salvation through Jesus Christ.

Thanks to many donors and supporters, Bread of Hope was able to obtain five hundred copies, which we are currently distributing among Wayuu communities in La Guajira.

Thank you for supporting this project and helping us bring God’s Word and His message of restoration to the unreached Wayuu communities.
